Bill Barnett

Bill Barnett, Ph.D.

Senior Manager, Research Technologies Life Sciences

William Barnett is an Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Cybersecurity Research in addition to being Senior Manager for the Life Sciences for IU’s Research Technologies division. Barnett also serves as Director of Information Architectures for the Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute and Director of the Advanced IT Core for the IU School of Medicine. In addition to his experience in information technologies for the life sciences, Barnett also has experience in digital libraries, multimedia technologies and has worked in both museum and nonprofit environments. Before coming to IU, Barnett was Deputy Director of the Fresno Metropolitan Museum in California and Vice President and CIO at the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. Barnett holds degrees from the College of William and Mary, and Boston University.

 

Andy Arenson

Andy Arenson

Manager, Biomedical Applications

Andy Arenson is Manager of the Biomedical Applications group within Life Sciences. Biomedical Applications helps IU's life sciences researchers access data they need and manage data they collect through consultation and software development.  Arenson came to IU as part of the Indiana Genomics Initiative as a Principal Analyst and later served as Manager of the Distributed Storage Services Group (now Research Storage). Previous to IU, Arenson was a Senior Consultant at Proxicom, Inc. (an Internet consulting company) and a Senior Programmer at the Baylor College of Medicine's Human Genome Sequencing Center.  Arenson holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from Rice University.

 

Dick Repasky

Manager, Center for Computational Cytomics

Dick Repasky currently manages the Center for Computational Cytomics within Life Sciences, which is a joint project with the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics at IU. Repasky previously served as a bioinformatics consultant and as a UNIX consultant at UITS. He holds degrees in Wildlife Biology and Zoology.

 

Anurag Shankar

Anurag Shankar

Principal Project Analyst, UITS/IU School of Medicine Advanced IT Core

Shankar manages projects and is the primary customer liaison for the Advanced IT Core, a partnership between the IU School of Medicine and Life Sciences.  A computational astrophysicist by training, Shankar has held various positions in the past with UITS, including Manager of Unix support, Distributed Storage Services (now Research Storage), and the national TeraGrid project. He was also responsible for overseeing the Advaned IT Core for the Indiana Genomics Initiative. Shankar holds degress in physics, mathematics, and astronomy.
